We go from astonishing moments of memory to childlike behavior, or at least, what-me-worry behavior. Either he can't hear, or he doesn't know what's going on around him. He has no clue what he did yesterday. None. Yesterday was a total and complete change in routine, and he can't remember a single thing about it until I give him many, many cues. ( Read more... )

The sweetest man in the world is probably waking up around now, trying to remember where he is, then, oh yeah, I'm in Wisconsin. Then he has to figure out where the bathroom is, but luckily he left the TV on so the light from that, plus the night lights we gave him, will guide him, not into the closet, but to the bathroom. Life changes when you have children. I feel like I'm preparing to have children again. Two boys. Or, one and a half.
